I can't Believe I'm Through Blogging

I can't believe ninth grade is over and my blogging time has come to an end! Freshman year was quite an adjustment from middle school and I am glad I could share my experiences through a blog. My days of blogging may be ending, but I plan on being part of Monster Making It Count through high school. Now my freshmen year is over I am looking forward to my following years in high school and college. In closing, I am grateful to have been chosen to be a student blogger and would like to thank Monster.com for all the great privileges they have given me. Take care and have a great summer!

                               Sincerely,

                                 High School Heidi

Busy Summer

Sorry I'm so late with the blog, but I've been very busy lately. As you know, two weeks ago I was in Orlando, last week I was at camp, and this week I have been at soccer camp.

Camp

Where do I start? When I arrived at camp, I was so excited to finally be back and be united with old friends and meet new ones. I was in cabin five, which I shared with nine other girls, and yes, sharing a bathroom is hard. The week was full of activities that included kickball and dodge ball tournaments, a talent show, capture the flag, hanging out on the pier, making arts and crafts, water polo, kayaking and sailing, going to ropes course, and a disco themed dance. While at camp, we would go to the chapel and have Dean's Program. Dean's Program is where a priest from a local Episcopalian church comes and talks to all the campers and counselors about our relationship with God and other subjects dealing with Christianity. The priest talked to us about the importance of being baptized and that no matter where we are, God is with us. Going to camp allows me to have fun with my friends and get closer to God. I'll have to admit, I was pretty happy when my mom came to pick me up and take me home. It had been a long week and I was ready to take a shower.

Soccer Camp

This week I have been attending soccer camp with the girls varsity team. Soccer began on Monday and will end tomorrow. It starts at 9:00 a.m. and ends at noon and it is brutally HOT! I make sure to take a half-gallon water bottle filled with ice with me everyday. Each day we will go over skills, passing, shooting, possession, and for the last thirty minutes we play a scrimmage game. As soon as we leave soccer, I go to a friend's house, lay on a raft in her pool and just relax. Some days we go get snow cones, which taste delicious after three hours of soccer in the blazing hot sun. When I finally arrive home, I am exhausted and usually take a nap or watch a movie.

Tomorrow will be my last post and I will miss sharing my thoughts with you all. Since it will be my last post, I am saving my thoughts about ninth grade and the future for then. For now, I'm headed to the kitchen to grab a bite and then get some rest for tomorrow.

Sturgeon911...Signing off

For all my readers out in there I would like to say thank you for you comments, and thank you for reading. Due to the fact this is the end of my ninth grade year I have received notice that I should stop blogging so they can find a new blogger for next year.  I have enjoyed spilling all the ninth grade trials and tribulations out to you. If I am chosen, I look forward to blogging in the future as the college and career bloggers. In my future I plan to stay as a member of Monster's Student Advisory Council, and continue to do my best throughout High school so I can get a scholarship at a University that I can row at. I plan to study executive business.

Before I go, I have plans for the summer that I would like to share with you. Currently, I am taking a Spanish class in order to knock out my summer reading. After that I will be anxiously awaiting June 30, when my family and I will be heading over to Sanibel Island where we will lay on the beach for one luxurious week. After that, I will get home and get ready to go row for a two week Crew camp. Then, I will go on July 22 to the Tampa area to visit my relatives and head up to the Suwanee River yet again to see if another Sturgeon will jump into my lap again. Then HELLO TENTH GRADE, GOODBYE NINTH!!!!

Done...Summer!!

Let me fill you in since I blogged last, there was a lot of stress during the last week of finals. Monday, my Science exam was the hardest I have had to date, not to mention the fact that the vice principal came into all the ninth grade classes to give everyone a letter stating that our History exam had been invalidated because someone had stolen the teacher's test! We also got the news that we would have to retake the exam after our scheduled Theology exam! (That meant that I had to be at school two additional hours than need be!).

The following day I had my Math exam. It was fairly good and I passed that exam with a B+. On Thursday I had my Spanish exam, the easiest thing on the face of the earth! (I got an A!). After not sleeping the night before, it was time for me to take my Theology and History re-take exams. My theology exam was super easy, I got an A+! Finally, the dreaded History exam. As I slaved through it with only fifteen minutes left ,and three paragraphs left to write in my essay, my teacher came in and excused the people who had taken their time, from the essay! I ended up getting an A on that impossible exam! After that, I went into "No school shock" and did absolutely nothing for two days! I love summer vacation...

Time Flies

Orlando was a blast! Universal Studios had rides galore and we went on plenty of them. My favorite was Dudley Dooright's Ripshaw Falls water ride. You hop aboard a log boat that goes up many hills and down many drops. Of course, the best part of the ride is at the end. The boat travels up a very steep hill and then makes a huge drop that gets everyone soaking wet. It was so much fun! We had a great time at the park, but it's also good to get back home.

Today, I am off to summer camp for a week. I have been going to camp for eight years and it's practically my "home away from home". Whenever possible, I sign up for multiple sessions and spend as many weeks as possible at camp. Eight cabins, a chapel, a ropes course, Wilson Hall (where we eat), a pavilion with basketball goals, a swimming pool, an arts and crafts building, and the beach with kayaks, canoes, and sailboats make up my wonderful camp. The camp is owned by the Episcopal Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast. We go to chapel everyday and have Eucharist on the first and last days of the week. Camp is a place to make new friendships, renew old friendships, and get in touch with God. Being at this beautiful camp on the bay is the highlight of my summer each and every year.

Until next time......... Hope everyone is having a great beginning to their summer break!!
