Sucka DJs

Being a DJ, I'm always on the lookout for my competition. Mostly because if the competition is playing somewhere, it means that I'm not playing there. That is bad because I want to be the most sought-after DJ on campus and other people are playing the gigs that I should be playing. I realize that this may be a conceited way of looking at things but I don't care. Typically I'm not one for competition or being the best. However, when it comes to DJing I want to be number 1 on campus. Part of this has to do with the fact that after seeing the other so-called DJs on campus, I destroy them skills-wise. That being the case, it really bothers me to see them playing big events (and getting paid for them) but being terrible. And on top of that they have the nerve to say that they're the best around. It's one thing to talk a big game, but if you can't back it up then you need to be quiet. At least that's the way I see it. In my opinion those are the worst type of DJs: all talk, no skills, and all about the money, not the music or the art form. They don't care about how good they get (or don't) as long as they keep getting paid, all the while claiming to be "true to the art of the DJ." There is a term that we use for these types of people and that is "sucka DJ."
Before I leave I would just like to reiterate that I by no means think that I'm the best DJ in the world, because I'm not by a long shot. Not even a little bit. And I'm pretty sure that I'll never get that good. But on campus is a different story. I'm cool with being the local champ. And even if I'm not getting all of the good gigs on campus, I don't mind as long as the people who are playing in my stead are good DJs that who truly have a love for what they're doing. I would love to see a big DJ community on campus because all of the parties would be awesome and it would be really nice to have people to talk to about DJ stuff :-) But right now that's not the case and there's just a bunch of poser DJs running around pretending to be the real thing. Until that changes, I want to own this place.
