I really love that I have been able to catch up with all of my friends that go to different schools over the break.  Everyone seems to be doing very well and they all are having a lot of fun.  All except my one friend that I will call Caroline.  Caroline was a very good student in high school and she really liked the small environment of the college prep private school that we attended.  So when it came time for her to pick out where she was going to go to college, she chose a private school that was very similar to our high school, except that it was really far away.  Well first semester is over and it turns out that she is miserable at her school and she wants to transfer.  I have talked to her and we have compared our college experiences and I really want her to come to my school!  I think that she would definitely enjoy it.  I am trying to convince her to come but we will see!

I will give more details when I can!

Freedom?

I have had a lot of free time these past few days.  Not all of my friends are home yet (and the ones that are home are busy doing family things) so I haven't been able to hang out with them.  I consider myself a social person but I also like some time to myself so I think that this time has definitely been constructive.  I have had time to catch up on some reading, hang out with the fam, and do a little crafting.  Yes, crafting.  I know, I'm a loser.  Don't judge.  Today I am heading to the movie with my older sister and then stopping by the craft store to get some paint to decorate some wooden letters that I bought a while ago for my room.  And then I'm going to go to the book store and get a book I've been wanting to read for a long time!

I'm loving this free time thing!

Very Satisfied!

My grades were posted today, and--drum roll please--I made all A's!!!  Yay!!  All of that hard work this semester really paid off and I am very happy (and my parents are too)!!

Home at last...

I am at home right now for the winter break and it is SO NICE!!  I have nothing due, nothing to read, no papers to write, NOTHING REQUIRED TO DO!  I can just enjoy spending time with my family and friends and catch up on things that have sort of moved to the back burner this past semester.  For example, I am reading all of the issues of my favorite magazine that I had missed while I was at school.  Also, I am sleeping a lot.  I definitely feel like I need to catch up and I read an article that said that people my age need the most sleep of any age group and that parents should just let us sleep as much as we need. That information makes me question the age of the person writing the article...college student?? Ha.

So now I am just enjoying my free time because I know it's not going to last.

I did it!

So...I survived exam week!  I know, you weren't sure that I was going to make it through but I did!  It is such a relief to have all of that over with.  It's definitely a calming feeling to know that there is no more that you can stress about and that everything that you worked so hard for is complete.

Now I just have to wait for grades to come in...

Dorm Dilemmas

Though it seems like it's a little early to be thinking about where to live next year, the deadlines for housing are coming up at the beginning of the next semester.  This poses a major dilemma for most college students.  Live in a dorm again?  Try an apartment?  What is cheaper?  What is closer?  Safer?  The questions go on and on.  Many people get really stressed out about it but personally, I think that the university and the college town make it very easy to figure out.  Recently, our school's Student Government Association hosted an information panel of local experts and professionals to give helpful tips and advice to students who have questions about housing.  I went to it and I thought it was really positive.  The proverbial first semester conversation topics about "so what classes you are taking" has been replaced with "so where are you living next year?"  It's really quite entertaining to hear some of the responses.  My favorites being "umm I have no idea."

I would really encourage you people to attend one of these info sessions if your school has one.  It was definitely helpful and gave some great tips regarding real estate agents, landlords, and housing contracts that everyone needs to know!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year?

The holiday season is definitely one of my favorite times of the year.  With it comes family, friends, and usually a lot of fun.  However, before school can be dismissed for our winter vacation, we must participate in the pretty much universal tradition of Final Exams.  It is that time of year.  I feel like I have been studying for seventy-two hours straight.  While that may be an exaggeration, it sure seems like it.  I have been lucky this semester, though.  Two of my classes do not have exams (one was just a pass/fail weekly lecture and the other required a final project) and one of my other exams is not cumulative (it is just like a regular test, covering the next assigned chapters).  So I don't have as much studying as many of my peers do, THANKFULLY!  It's still a full workload on top of many other activities that are coming to a close this week so I have a full plate as usual!  Wish me luck!
