Thanksgiving Break

Soooo, the end of break is here. It was nice while it lasted. Turkey, friends, family, MY DOG! It's been fun guys....now back to college where I'll be greeted by a barrage of EXAMS.  Ahhhhhh! Yeah, and I meant to study over break, but it didn't really work out like I had planned. I mean I got some reading done, but other than that pretty much nada. I've got one week before exams start so it's not like I'm completely hung out to dry, right...Right! Basically, though, I've got my sights set on Christmas break. I should be mostly worrying about exams, of course. But when you've got something like Christmas on the horizon its hard to keep focus. And the city's getting all dressed up with garlands and lights, cold nights and cool days, most people are cheery, it's a great time! I have to start thinking about presents! Especially for my college friends because I'll be leaving them around December 14th, which doesn't leave me much time. All these things to think about! And I have a Jazz combo concert coming up...I'll keep you posted

In response to Emily

Hello all!

This post is in response to Emily's question about what kind of clubs I'm in and how much sleep I get per night. Good questions if I do say so myself. Well about the clubs, I'm really not in that many...and I'm planning on joining more next semester. As of now, though, I'm in the Bike Club which basically meets on Sundays to organize rides to fun places around the city. I'm also a part of one of the many service clubs on campus, which does service that is specifically targeted to the city we're in. So now were helping out a community in the projects by meeting with the children once a month and playing with them, and also attending their townhall type meetings trying to find solutions to their problems. Also, I'm a member of one of the Jazz Combos on campus. I wouldn't really call it a club, but we meet once a week and play and arrange pieces that each of us brings in, and we have occasional concerts. Now that I'm more adjusted to life on campus I feel like I didn't get involved enough this semester. So in the spring I plan on joining more clubs like one of the on-campus political organizations and intramural sport and maybe the boardgame club. Yeah the boardgame club. Everything and anything is game here. One of my friends who is Def Not Indian joined the Indian Students on Campus Association....whatever floats your boat.

As for sleep, I get enough. Usually I head to bed around one and my first class starts at 9:30 so I wake up around 8:30. Lets see thats 1...2...3...7 hours of sleep on average. Then some days I have a ten o'clock so I sleep in. And other nights are full of stuff so I stay up later. But I'd say 6-7 hours sleepytime is about my average. I also have to add that I NEED my sleep. In highschool I slept 8 and 9 hours a night. Among my friends I'm the one that gets the most sleep, and that's because I need it. My roomie runs off about 4 or 5 hours a night and seems to be doing fine. Thats not me. But everyone's different when it comes to that. So yeah ...

Thanks alot for the questions! Feel free to keep 'em coming!

What's good...

You know what's great. When a class is canceled unexpectedly. I'll give you a mental image: you roll out of bed and you realize you have 10 minutes before class starts, so you throw on some clothes check yourself in the mirror and stumble out the door, only to realize you forgot your books. So you go back to get them and begin your sprint to class. You get there 10 minutes late dreading the looks you'll get from fellow students who didn't forget to set their alarms....and lo and behold: SIGN ON THE DOOR!!!! You feel a weight lifted and you sigh aloud a sigh of relief and smile to yourself. Yes its awesome. Not to say that I don't like my classes, but when one is canceled it's like a little gift that you didn't expect or money that you found in your pants pocket. It's only happened to me twice, but its like most things of this nature...you kind of want it to be rare, that way it stays special.

I'm Back

Hey everyone...with Thanksgiving on the horizon teachers have been eagerly  handing out extra work, or at least it seems that way. So I've been busy busy this past week. In fact the whole past weekend was practically spent inside my dorm room either at my desk working or in my bed sleeping. Sounds pretty sad, I know. But the point is, everything is winding down in anticipation of next week, so the prospects for this weekend look far more exciting than the last, unless, of course, you find Early Modern English History more exciting than a night on the town.

Anyway, back to the point of this entry...As you may have noticed, I kind of just blog about what comes up in my life at college, but that may not include what you (the noble reader) may want to know about it. So what I'm getting at here IS....if there's anything that I'm not touching on that has do with life in college (and there's a lot) that you are curious about make a comment on one of the posts. I'd love to get some questions and feedback on what I'm writing so I can give a better picture of what college life is like. Translation: Some comments would be awesome...even just to let me know people are reading this!

Back to the Inferno (Dante's Inferno, that is).

Sick...AGAIN

So, ok we've all heard that you get sick a lot as a freshman. But this is just ridiculous. I have a sore throat like every two weeks that lasts for about a week. And it's not just me, my friends are on the same sick cycle. It's really not fun. I'm trying to take my vitamins and eat lots of oranges and stuff, but nothing really works. I think a big contributor is the dining hall. I mean I don't want to be gross but, I feel like a lot of people touch or at least get close to what I eat from the dining hall and I'm sure a lot of them are sick soooo that doesn't help things. Hate to be a whiner, but I'm really just not used to feeling like I have no immune system. I guess one good thing is that it's not just me, so I can commiserate with other people on my floor and in my building in general. Hey, on the bright side its almost a conversation starter..."Ugh, I'm sick" "Hey ME TOO!!!" and so on
